FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Graduate assistantships that support teaching, research or service to the University are available for the regular session. Full- time assistantships receive academic-year stipends of $6500. Part-time assistantships are also granted. A limited number of assistantships are also available for the summer sessions. All assistantships are competitive  An E.R. Lovell Fellowship of $5000, Graduate Alumni Scholarships of $2000 each and Alumni Fellowships of $1000 are also available. Applicants should apply to the Graduate School stating their academic backgrounds, plans, and financial needs.

You should know that school districts have available a tuition reimbursement procedure through which a full-time teacher may be able to recover all or a portion of tuition paid in the pursuit of graduate credit. If you have an interest in pursuing a MASS degree with a concentration leading to "G" certification, and you are employed in a public school system, then you may want to contact your central office to inquire about potential financial support. In addition, if you are employed by a community college, you should know that many offer a paid leave of absence to individuals in pursuit of academic improvement.
